Breakfast & Evening Happy Hour
Evening Happy Hour
Early evening, from 6pm to 7pm, we spend an hour to take some time out to relax and host our guests over drinks. This is a good time to chat about your plans for tomorrow. We can book any activities you may be interested in, make restaurant bookings and have a general catch up.
We serve local wines from Neudorf Vineyard, Rimu Grove Winery, Kina Cliffs or Kahurangi. You may want to taste one of the fabulous local brews that are also made in Nelson.
We are responsible hosts so always whip up a plate of nibbles.
Occasionally we are heading out to dinner too – but do not fear, we will always leave something to amuse you.
Breakfast
Each morning we lay a lovely breakfast table with linen napkins and old English glassware and silverware.
We source most ingredients locally and Woodi's breakfast changes daily, according to the season, dietary requirements and what’s in the fridge – we like to make life interesting!
There is always a fresh locally made juice and a bowl of seasonal fruit and yoghurt. Then some Nelson Berry Jam with hot bread straight out of the oven, or toast. This is followed by a cooked breakfast which could be smoked salmon and scrambled eggs (she is rather famous for her scrambled eggs!), or poached eggs and bacon, or maybe mushrooms that we have foraged?
We have freshly ground Pomeroy's coffee delivered, as it is roasted in Nelson, and a large selection of teas. You might like to try the 'Johnny Special Tea', which has become a house favourite.
Wakefield Quay House, a Bed & Breakfast fronting Tasman Bay, serves the best scrambled eggs on this planet or any other.
