Visit Nelson's Vineyards & Breweries
The Nelson Wine trail map can direct you to all our Nelson wineries. A new wine trail is produced each year with vineyard opening times, varietals and important things you need to know.
There are around 25 vineyards you can visit in Nelson. We may not have as many vineyards as Marlborough, but we are happy to report that Nelson wines win more awards!
Each winery we have listed has a cellar door tasting room, so you can often meet the winemaker in person.
Most vineyards are happy to ship wines internationally.
Some of our favourites to visit include:
Neudorf Vineyard
Award winning Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in a relaxed country setting with delightful garden to sit and enjoy the wines. They have a mini deli with yummy local cheeses to match with a glass or two. Neudorf Vineyards
Rimu Grove Winery
Multiple award winning Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from a tasting room with fantastic estuary views. Patrick is a character, and his wines are very tasty! Rimu Grove Winery

Woollaston Estate
Good wines in a stunning landscape, check out the sculptures and construction of the winery. They have a nice little gallery at the tasting room too.
Waimea Estate
First vineyard you come to on the trail, their Sauvignon Blanc very reflective of the region and they produce great reds too. The tasting room has a lovely café with an excellent range of food from nibbly things to go with a tasting, to a three course lunch.
Wine, Art, Wilderness
Spend a day on a guided tour of the wineries with tastings and lunch included with Noel, your amusing and knowledgeable guide.
Casa Del Vino
Anne at Casa Del Vino in Nelson City has an excellent selection in the one store. She can also ship wines to your home.
Nelson has a growing craft beer industry and great coffee too:
The Free House
Lovely old church with best selection of craft beers in NZ, also lots of live performances in the yurt in the garden.
Sprig & Fern
Serving more craft beers from around NZ in Hardy Street.
McCashins Brewery
The successful producer of the Stoke beer range, they also host a small market with live music on the weekend.
Pomeroys Coffee
This is where we buy our coffee, it’s a cute and cozy shop with small coffee bar. Their range of teas is mindboggling too.
