Nelson Outdoor Activities
Cable Bay Kayaks
This is our favourite small family run kayak company, and a lovely place to kayak. They are based 20 minutes north of Nelson and you can spend a half day kayaking around the beautiful Pepin Island and the Delaware Bay estuary. Cable Bay Kayaks
Wine, Art, Wilderness
Noel from Wine, Art, Wilderness is a good bloke to phone for an excellent guided day out –he's got a very comfy wagon, good sense of humour and extensive knowledge of the area. Yes, you can drink and drive! Wine, Art & Wilderness Tours
Haulashore Island Ferry
Just down the road from our house you can jump on the ferry, tootle over to the Nelson Boulder Bank and visit the lighthouse. You can get to the top as they lend you a key.
The Nelson City Council produce booklets with interesting historic walks and sculpture trails. Walking from our house, it is about 35 minutes into town and about 25 minutes to Tahunanui Beach.
Join a 5 day RYA live aboard sailing course on board a Farr 1020 yacht. Or maybe just an afternoon charter around the harbour.
Golf in Nelson
There are 3 good golf courses in Nelson, apparently the best is the 18 hole Nelson Golf Club close to the airport and there is a 9 hole up the Matiai Valley called Waihi Taakaro. Greenacres Golf Course is at Best Island, close to Richmond.
